It is important to understand that the term "addiction" should not be used lightly. It refers to the significant changes in brain chemistry that occur due to substance use. Using the term "addiction" irresponsibly devalues the seriousness of true addiction and can minimize the struggles faced by those suffering from it. While habits like smoking can be difficult to break, they are not the same as true chemical addiction. Breaking these habits often involves behavioral changes rather than the brain chemistry changes seen in true addiction.
