Introduction to The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE)
NFTE is a globally recognized organization that empowers young people from low-income communities to pursue their dreams through entrepreneurship. By staying in school and recognizing opportunities, NFTE’s participants are not only better equipped for the business world but also for their future success.
How NFTE Inspires Disadvantaged Youth
NFTE’s mission is to inspire young people from low-income communities to stay in school, recognize opportunities, and plan for successful futures. By offering a unique entrepreneurship curriculum, NFTE provides a pathway for students to develop essential business, academic, and life skills. The organization’s innovative approach is tailored to meet the needs of high school and middle school-aged students, ensuring that every participant can benefit from the program.
Getting Started with NFTE in Your Community
If you or your institution serves young people from low-income communities, NFTE’s program can be a transformative tool. To kickstart a NFTE program in your community, here are the steps you should follow:
Partnership with NFTE University: NFTE hosts NFTE University where teachers are trained to deliver the unique curriculum effectively. Upon signing a partnership agreement, teachers undergo a comprehensive training to ensure they can provide the best experience for students. Ongoing Support: Once the NFTE program is underway, teachers receive ongoing support to maximize the student experience. This support includes resources, networking opportunities, and guidance throughout the academic year. Student-Led Projects: Students engage in developing innovative ideas and business plans, which they present and defend by the end of the course. This hands-on approach not only enhances their entrepreneurial skills but also boosts their confidence and self-esteem.Eligibility and Costs
The NFTE program is designed for students aged 11-18 who attend schools offering NFTE’s program or attend BizCamps. While the program is free for all students, schools need to purchase curriculum materials. NFTE offers discounted rates to current teachers and educational institutions.
Funding for NFTE
NFTE’s operations are supported by a range of donors, including corporations, foundations, and individuals passionate about the organization’s mission. To learn more about donors or to make a donation, visit the NFTE Supporters page.
