Experiencing Smith College: An Inside View

While the dormitories and dining facilities were a significant upgrade from my home life, the social aspect of college life was somewhat less fulfilling for me. Although I made many friends, my most enduring relationships developed elsewhere. Smith's financial aid policies, which required students to work in the kitchen as part of their work-study programs, created a divide between those who could contribute financially and those who could not, affecting the social dynamics that I found challenging.

Polarized Politics and Social Dynamics

Smith College is a highly politically active institution, where students are passionate and articulate about their positions. The activism and awareness surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity were heightened at Smith, likely due to the diverse and inclusive environment. While the quality of education was superior at Columbia, I am certain that the essence of a Smith education would remain largely unchanged. My experiences at Smith College have been invaluable, shaping my outlook on life and fostering a love for intellectual pursuits that continues to this day.
