Can We Crack NEET with Regular Schooling and Coaching?

In the journey of securing a seat in a prestigious medical or dental college, many students face the challenge of balancing regular schooling, board exams, and NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) preparation. I, as a regular ISCE board student, entered examination halls both for my board exams and NEET in the same year, relying on online coaching. This experience has given me valuable insights into whether regular schooling and coaching can be sufficient to crack NEET.

Overcoming Challenges in 2021

Back in 2021, when I had just finished Class 10th from an ISCE board during the pandemic, I had zero idea that I would be doing online NEET preparation. Most ICSE students shifted to dummy schools from state boards or CBSE boards, but this wasn't an option for me. My parents had a dream to complete my schooling from the ISCE board, which meant I couldn't take a dummy school. Additionally, the toxic culture at Kota and the ongoing pandemic didn't make it a viable choice. Initially, I thought I could study on my own, not knowing the importance of structured modules and rigorous preparation.

The Turning Point: Alakh Pandey Sir's NEET Batch

Everything changed when I saw Alakh Pandey Sir launch his Arjuna NEET batch. I had studied the entire Class 10th syllabus from his YouTube lectures and, attracted by the low cost of the batch (Rs. 4000), I bought it. The real burden began to show once my Class 11th started in August. I regretted not joining a dummy school numerous times, feeling angry at my parents and often crying, believing it was the worst mistake I had made.

Navigating the Academic Crux

I shifted my schedule to fit my studies, attending only 75% of my school classes for four months, then down to 4 days a week in the last two months, making my study periods irregular. During these times, I would take notes to school for revision and dedicate all game periods to study. Unfortunately, I abstained from playing in the playground altogether. Despite the challenges and the irregularity, these strategies helped me manage my time effectively.

An Unexpected Success

Amidst the difficulties, I achieved impressive results. I scored 98.5% in my ISCE board exams and secured a remarkable 660 out of 720 in NEET 2023. This outcome was a testament to my determination and the suitability of my strategy. My parents' decision to let me study regularly while preparing for NEET turned out to be the best choice in my life, for which I am deeply grateful. Taking a dummy school is not a necessity for cracking NEET; many students fail even after attending such schools.
