RRB Clerk Mains 2019 Examination Analysis: A Comprehensive Guide for Aspirants

The level of the RRB Clerk Mains 2019 exam was challenging, but manageable, as it falls somewhere between moderate and difficult. This comprehensive analysis aims to guide aspiring candidates through each section of the exam and provides a detailed breakdown of the experience faced by a candidate, including their performance and strategies used.

The RRB Clerk Mains Exam: A Review

For me, this was the fourth mains level exam, following my experiences in the IBPS PO Mains, LIC Assistant Mains, and SBI Clerk Mains. Comparing the difficulty levels, the RRB Clerk Mains exam was found to be relatively easier than both the IBPS PO Mains and SBI Clerk Mains. This analysis delves into each section, providing insights and tips for future aspirants.

General Awareness

The General Awareness section was a significant part of the exam, and it covered a wide range of topics. Most of the questions in this section were based on events that occurred within the last month, as relevant to the month of the exam. The level of difficulty was easy compared to questions asked in the LIC Assistant Mains second shift conducted in the same month. I managed to attempt 23-24 questions with 95% accuracy, indicating a solid understanding of the subject.

Quantitative Aptitude

In Quantitative Aptitude, approximately 25 questions were attempted. The Data Interpretation (DI) section posed a challenge as it included around 10-15 questions that were a bit lengthy but easy to solve. Arithmetic questions were on a moderate level, making this section a balanced challenge. For the DI section, I found it moderately difficult due to the need for quick calculations.

Logical Reasoning

The Logical Reasoning section included puzzles that were slightly lengthy but straightforward to solve. Coded inequalities, coded direction sense, and a mix of other miscellaneous questions provided a good challenge. I managed to attempt 29 questions, which included both the puzzles and the miscellaneous questions.

English Language

The English section was a slight challenge, as it was perceived as a bit difficult. My performance in this section did not match the expectations, with only 25 questions attempted, which is below the section's average. Enhancing vocabulary and grammar skills, along with regular practice, can greatly improve performance in this section.

Cutoff Analysis and Expectations

For this RRB Clerk Mains exam, the overall attempt was around 100 questions. The sectional distribution was as follows:

Reasoning: 75 Quantitative Aptitude: 40 General Awareness: 22 English: 35 Computer Aptitude: 32

From my experience and analysis, attempting around 75 out of 100 questions seems to be the key to clearing the exam. Here's a breakdown of the reasoning for this approach:

Reas: 75 (Reasoning Ability)

Reasoning was the strongest section for many candidates, with a potential to score well if practiced diligently.

Math (Quantitative Aptitude): 40

The Quantitative Aptitude section, while not the easiest, did allow for good scores with proper preparation and practice.

General Awareness: 22

General Awareness questions were mostly based on recent events, making them easier to prepare for through regular reading and current affairs updates.

English: 35

Noting the difficulty level of the English section from the feedback, a higher attempt in this section is crucial.

Computer Aptitude: 32

This section was straightforward, with a higher attempt likely to yield better results.

Conclusion

The RRB Clerk Mains 2019 exam was a mix of challenges and opportunities. Understanding the pattern and difficulties faced in each section is crucial for aspirants preparing for the exam in the future. By focusing on areas like reasoning and computer aptitude, and improving in the areas that were challenging, such as the English section, candidates can enhance their chances of success.
