Reconsidering the Republican Approach for National Unity

Introduction

Raised in a Republican household, I was a staunch supporter for many years until the party veered off course under the influence of religious zealots. This shift ultimately caused the Republican Party and its politicians to prioritize issues such as “pro-life” and anti-abortion, at the expense of sensible smaller government, less government spending, and lower taxes. It's as if the party has strayed from its original founding ethos, aiming instead for a return to pre-Civil War social structures and early colonial attitudes.

Challenging Core Beliefs

The Republican Party's foundational principles are being questioned now more than ever. They would prefer a social hierarchy reminiscent of the pre-Civil War era, championing the attitudes of the early colonial period. This sentiment is largely rooted in a desire to promote pre-existing structures, to coincide with the way Indians are currently living. An idealized past, reimagined as a path to the present, where the opening of the “We the People” phrase is replaced with “We the People of the Original 13 Colonies”. Such a shift is not just a historical reenactment but a fervent political stance that has alienated many.

Addressing Internal Challenges

For Republicans, the question now is how to overcome their internal challenges, such as the fear of eliminating full departments and programs. In the face of this, it becomes imperative for the party to understand that the election results are not just about gaining or losing, but about responsibly addressing societal needs. The Democrat Party's protracted conflict with America should not blind them to the realities of their own shortcomings.

Straying from the Trump Mentality

If Republicans truly want to succeed, they need to reevaluate their opinion on Donald Trump and his vision for America. While acknowledging that the country is in a state of turmoil due to the Democrats, there is a need to look beyond pride and back a candidate capable of achieving positive change. This change cannot come from embracing the failed policies of the opposition; rather, it must be rooted in a new, collaborative approach.

Breaking Political Gridlock

The Republican Party finds itself in a precarious position, representing only 43.5% of the population through 25 states, far short of the total 50 states. This demographic limitation, combined with the party's current obstructionist stance and support for the “big lie”, has alienated a significant portion of the non-registered and less extreme right. Unless this situation shifts, the party's future is in jeopardy.

However, it's crucial to understand that the Democrats also need accountability and improvement. The question here, however, is specifically about the Republicans' need for self-reflection and strategic adjustment. By addressing these internal issues, Republicans can work towards a more unified nation, based on mutual respect and shared responsibilities.

The purpose of winning elections is to put competent individuals in positions of responsibility who can act competently and responsibly. This is a shared objective that transcends partisanship, and one that all factions of the political spectrum must strive to achieve.
