Retirement: A Look at My New Job and Daily Routine
When I reflect on my journey, from the labours of the city council work to my current retirement, there is a rich tapestry of experiences that have shaped my life. Retirement has brought a change so profound that I now consider it my 'job.'
The City Council Work
During my working days, my job was a mix of hard work and rewarding moments. It was a labour-intensive role, but highly gratifying and enjoyable. I worked for the city council, where each morning I swept 10 streets and spent the rest of my day engaged in gardening and maintaining city parks, gardens, and verges.
The Final Chapter: Retirement
Now that I am retired, my job description has changed dramatically. My days are much simpler and revolve around getting out of bed, a morning with the dog, feeding, cleaning, and cooking before returning to a well-deserved rest. Occasionally, I venture out to do some grocery shopping.
Financial Security in Retirement
One of the highlights of my retirement is the financial security it has brought. I did not plan for retirement; it happened unexpectedly, and I am grateful to be in a position where I have never lacked food, shelter, or clothing. My savings and wise spending habits, coupled with a modest inheritance, have provided me with surplus funds for travel and other forms of recreation.
Retirement: A Life Time of Preparation
My retired life is fantastic and the best job I have ever had. The hours are great, there is no frustrating commute, and I have wonderful benefits. It has been the perfect fit for my skill set. I’ve been training for this role my whole life, and there's no doubt about it - retiring was bittersweet but a well-deserved reward.
Medical Career and Passion
While retired, my career in the medical field is still front and centre in my memories. I spent my working life in hospitals, doctors' offices, and healthcare centers. Each day was filled with treating patients and providing care, and I loved every minute of it. Whether it was inpatient care, outpatient services, or comprehensive healthcare centers, I found immense satisfaction in my work.
The Key to Blissful Retirement
The key to my blissful retirement is simple: doing what I love. Many people feel that if you like what you do, it’s like never working a day in your life. And that’s precisely the kind of life I have now. I wake up each day with a sense of purpose, albeit a lighter load, and I am filled with joy and fulfillment.
