Secured Score for SSC CGL 2017 Tier 1 to Qualify in Tier 3

The Secondary School Certificates Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) Exam is a comprehensive test of your patience rather than your knowledge. Patience and consistent practice are the keys to success. This article will guide you on how to achieve a secured score in Tier 1 that will help you qualify for Tier 3.

Tier 1 Preparation Strategies

Your first step is to familiarize yourself with the previous year's question papers. This will give you a clear idea of the exam pattern and the type of questions asked. Once you have covered the entire syllabus, start practicing test series or mock exams two months before the actual Tier 1 exam. No matter if you have completely covered the syllabus or not, regular performance analysis and targeted improvement are essential.

Mathematics and English carry a significant portion of the marks (500 out of 720 in Tier 1 and Tier 2 combined). Therefore, it is crucial to give them special attention. Aim to score a minimum of 160 marks in both sections combined to ensure a smooth transition to Tier 2.

Tier 2 Preparation

Tier 2 is more competitive and requires focused effort. To prepare for Tier 2, you should:
- Use reference books such as Kiran Publications for Quantitative Aptitude and Rakesh Yadav for better practice.
- Engage with test series to enhance your performance. The SSC Tube is recommended for its comprehensive test series.
- Work on improving your weaker areas continuously.
- If time permits, complete LOD I and II of Arun Sharma to boost your confidence before the Mains.

Expected Scores and Aim

With consistent preparation and practice, you can aim to score approximately 175 in Math and 140 in English. Adding these scores, you will achieve a total of 315 marks in Tier 2. Given your Tier 1 score of 160, your total will be around 425, just satisfying the cut-off for moving to Tier 3.

Setting a target of 470 is ambitious but achievable with dedication. With hard work and perseverance, there is a high chance of clearing the exam. Make sure to stay motivated throughout the process and believe in your abilities.

Remember, the journey to success is filled with ups and downs, but consistent effort will lead you to your goal. Good luck!
