However, even with these tools, the environment itself is harmful and cannot be repaired or healed internally.

Leaving a toxic work environment is not an act of cowardice. It is a crucial step toward self-respect and self-worth. To stay in such an environment is to disrespect yourself. It is vital to ensure that your self-respect remains a priority. If you are neglecting your well-being, you are doing yourself a disservice. Standing up for yourself and your well-being is the most empowering thing you can do for yourself.

During periods where the toxic behavior persisted, I relied on the skills I had developed over the years to survive. I focused on managing stress effectively, maintaining my mental health, and ensuring the situation did not spiral into a more toxic environment. Sometimes, these toxic individuals would leave before I had to take any action, saving me from having to make a difficult decision. In other cases, I made the executive choice to leave as soon as I could. I took responsibility for my well-being and understood that my actions were a form of self-care.
