Trump's Visit Cancellation: A Pettiness Exposed?
There was more than mere pettiness at play when President Donald Trump cancelled his planned visit to Denmark, but the why doesn’t deeply matter. Once again, Trump failed to uphold his presidential duties. He is, simply put, worthless in this context.
Trump's Petty Nature and Grandiose Delusions
Trump’s character is characterized by pettiness, fragility, and a sensitivity that crosses the line into the absurd. His delusions of grandeur, believing he is the chosen one, are evident in his attempts to buy Greenland, a whole nation. When his proposals are met with any criticism, his defensiveness surfaces, as seen in his reaction to the suggestion that his idea to purchase Greenland is “absurd.” This shows the kind of advice and suggestions he takes from those surrounding him.
He is known for seeking easy wins, but when faced with resistance, he quickly loses steam. Instead, he resorts to empty threats, attempting to intimidate others without real substance, often hidden behind bravado. His cowardice in interpersonal conflict and his fear of facing rejection reflect poorly on his leadership, especially as the President of the United States—a role he should uphold with more dignity.
His offer to buy Greenland was made indirectly through the press rather than directly. Trump showed his cowardice in his inability to confront the matter head-on. His reluctance to face the prospect of a rejection reveals a deeper issue of self-doubt and a need for validation that should not be a characteristic of a national leader.
Denmark's Disappointment
The cancellation of the visit also reflects poorly on Denmark. The Danish Queen Margrethe II had prepared to receive him, but the cancellation because of the Prime Minister’s single, not harsh word, reveals a fragile ego on the part of Trump. It is not the words but the underlying issues that should concern us. It is disappointing that he dismissed the invitation, using the Danish people as a crutch to justify his actions.
Remember, Denmark has a deep history with the United States, often acting as a strong ally. During the Middle East wars, Danish military personnel and citizens have made significant sacrifices. Yet, Trump, instead of supporting these individuals, has remained more concerned with his own comfort and image, staying home to play golf while others put their lives on the line.
Reflections on Trump's Leadership
Trump's behavior was an insult to the Queen of Denmark, whom he should respect as a rightful head of state. To the Queen, the cancellation may have brought a sense of relief, akin to dealing with an untrained and aggressive dog. This incident highlights a larger issue: Trump often represents Russian influence in America, rather than the United States itself, leaving behind a leadership void of respect and duty.
The incoming year, 2020, may offer new challenges and moments of truth regarding Trump's leadership. Denmark, and other nations, should continue to be vigilant and hold leaders to a higher standard of respect and integrity.
