Why DoDoorDash or Uber Eats Drivers Not Ring My Doorbell?
Why Don't DoorDash or Uber Eats Drivers Ring My Doorbell?
Good question. In the densely populated city where deliveries are a norm, it is very rare for logistics service drivers to take a second to ring the doorbell or knock as requested.
Commonly Given Reasons
Your guess is as good as mine! As I see it, if the delivery people stand there and take a photo of the delivery at the door, which does NOT even prove that it has been received, they are likely too busy to ring or knock. If the delivery instructions do not specify this, many drivers will not do it. Some individuals go as far as insisting on their method, even when it is stated in the instructions. Is this stubbornness? In that case, I think it is fair to not feel obligated to give a tip if the driver does not follow the instructions.
They tell us when we wake up the baby or disrupt their meeting or nap, but if it is in the delivery instructions, most of us are good about following it. I'm a customer too, and it is in my driver instructions, and they always knock for me. Hopefully, this helps.
Why Ringing Is Rare
Many deliveries are contactless, so drivers simply drop the food off at the door and leave. This is convenient from their perspective, as it avoids the risk of waking someone up or disrupting their activities.
If the instructions say "leave at door," many drivers will follow through. However, there is a chance that the customer could still get upset, either for not ringing the bell or for ringing it. The case for not ringing is common among reasons such as sleeping babies or family members, or loud dogs. Personally, I don't ring after a certain point in the night due to the high probability of someone sleeping.
Ensuring Customer Satisfaction
It's best to use explicit delivery instructions. This way, both the customer and the driver know the expectations. Whether the delivery is left at the door or knocked at the door should be clearly stated in the instructions.
In summary, the decision whether to ring or knock often depends on the specific delivery service's guidelines and the customer's preferences. Clear communication is key to ensuring a positive delivery experience for all parties involved.
