Wipro Training Centers for Freshers: Locations, Expectations, and Experiences
Introduction
Wipro, a leading global information technology, consulting, and business process services company, often receives inquiries about the locations where it sends its fresh graduates for training. This article delves into the typical training locations, the expectations involved, and the experiences of recent Wipro recruits.
Where Does Wipro Send Its Freshers for Training?
Wipro typically assigns fresh graduates, or 'recruits' as they're often referred to, to various training centers across India. One of the primary centers is the Wipro Academy of Software Excellence (WASE), located in major tech hubs such as Bangalore.
Other training centers are often found in Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai. These centers serve as crucial locations where fresh graduates undergo a structured program to prepare themselves for their roles within the organization. This training period covers technical skills, soft skills, and company policies, ensuring that new recruits are well-equipped to handle their assigned tasks.
The CAM Form and Location Preferences
When filling out your CAM form (Career Advancement Management form), you are presented with the option to choose your preferred location from three options provided. However, while Wipro respects these preferences to some extent, the final placement often depends on the company's needs.
For instance, as a fresh graduate from the northern part of India, you might opt for locations closer to home, such as Gurgaon (now known as Gurugram), Noida, or Mumbai. Yet, Wipro has the autonomy to assign you to a different location, as evidenced by my experience. I chose three locations: Gurgaon, Noida, and Pune, but was eventually sent to Chennai, much to my surprise and initial disappointment.
Experiences and Opinions
Despite the initial surprise of being placed in Chennai, the training experience itself was quite positive. Wipro provides comprehensive training, covering both the basics and in-depth knowledge in selected technologies. The training centers are well-equipped to ensure these graduates are ready for their roles once they start working.
While the training location is determined by Wipro, the project location is typically decided based on the preferences of the recruit, provided the availability and project needs match. As I chose Java/J2EE in 2014, I ended up receiving training in Hyderabad, while a second batch was sent to Noida for the same technology. This demonstrates the variability in initial training assignments.
Conclusion
In summary, Wipro's fresh graduate training centers are strategically located in major tech hubs across India. While preferences are taken into account, final placements can vary based on the company's requirements. Prospective graduates should embrace the training process with an open mind, as the placement can be a key factor in shaping their future career paths within the organization.
